Planning to Improve the Planet - Part Two

Do you usually consider philanthropy to be the display of kindness and/or the display of knowledge and/or the display of money and/or the display of creativity or the display of something else entirely?

The unkind rich act unethically because they are greedily competitive.

The unkind poor act unethically because they are desperate for money and other resources and therefore compete with each other in the struggle for survival.

A middle class person is meant to be adequately conscientious rather than greedy or desperate.

Although kindness is not a socioeconomic phenomenon, effectively preventing unkindness usually requires the socioeconomic resources, and political power, and cultural influence, with which to do so.

Perhaps you sing songs about kindness whilst accompanying yourself on a kithara.

Are you a professional musician?

If so, do people sometimes regard you as though you are a deity?

Perhaps you are regarded as a muse

While images of ancient gods may be viewed in and through museums, how can the sounds of ancient societies be heard?

What do you know about Apollo and the Muses?

What do you know about Cupid and Psyche?

Perhaps you have noticed that there is much unkindness associated with myths, legends, fairy tales, and various other works of fiction.

What do you know about the concept of a clockwork universe?

What do you know about the concept of a musical universe?

What do you know about Gnosticism and the Nag Hammadi library?

What is your acquaintance with the concept of the demiurge?

When, if ever, have you examined a tellurion or an orrery or an astrarium?

What do you know about the stability of the solar system

What do you know about increasing instability in the Earth's climate system?

Planning to improve the planet requires sufficient information and sufficient discipline.

How do you compare Apollo and Dionysus?

With whom do you compare yourself, and why?

Who are your role models, and how did you acquire them?

What do you know about the Horae, the ancient Greek goddesses of the seasons?

Even with wars, epidemics, famines and volcanic eruptions, the seasons have provided the order required for life on Earth for thousands of years.

What do you know about climate proxies and instrumental measurements?

How do you assess changes in crops from season to season?

How do you compare natural climate variability with unnatural climate variability?

What do you know about Orpheus and Orphism?

Have you ever played a lyre?

Have you ever watched a real or simulated Earthrise over the Moon?

Where, if anywhere, have you experienced considerable enlightenment, and how?

Perhaps you believe you have experienced considerable enlightenment in and/or from and/or above the little virtual library of Frugality Cottage.

How do you usually view the Earth and/or the world, and from where?

Perhaps you do so from your imagination.

How and where have you been attentively investing in conservation, and why?

How do you know you have been investing in thorough assessments appropriately?

How well, if at all, have you been investing in purposeful reviews, and how do you know?

If you are already investing in urgent reforms, how do you know you have not been investing money in counter-productive ways?

How are you investing in structure, and for what reasons?

The Earth and the world still turn.

How do you tell the difference between a stupid story and a well-informed story, apart from the fact that a stupid story is likely to sell well?

What is your acquaintance with reasonable constitutionalism?

The best communities always express a culture of well-informed kindness, as do the best organisations.

Perhaps you regard better communities as fictional inventions.

Perhaps you regard better environments as fictional inventions.

Perhaps you regard better governments as fictional inventions.

Much technological compatibility and incompatibility have long been placed in the service of greed, not need.

Many buildings are incompatible with their locations.

Many human activities are incompatible with nature.

How do you assess whether sources of distress are based on evidence or not?

How do you assess mental health?

How do you respond to bullying?

How do you prevent yourself from being a bully?

How successfully have you been investing in real friendships, and how do you know?

Perhaps you are not adequately good.

Perhaps you are not adequately genuine.

Perhaps you are not adequately thoughtful.

Who appreciates you, and why?

What do you know about the connection between appreciation and trustworthiness?

How thoughtfully and creatively are you investing in life, and how do you know?

What is your preferred approach to investing in pleasure, and why?

Are you sure you are investing in an intelligently kind culture adequately well, from your own point of view?

If so, how do you know?
